Pindar Case Study

Back in 2002 Pindar were looking for integrated MIS software that would replace a mixture of systems, increase efficiency and reduce duplication of effort. What they installed is a system that now gives complete job visibility and a degree of management control that has surpassed their expectations.

The Pindar Organisation was founded in 1836 in Scarborough, UK, and remains a family owned business today. Pindar are experts in print and electronic media and work with thousands of customers, in hundreds of locations across three continents. The company now employs some 2000 people in the UK, United States and India.

One of Pindar’s 3 robotic palletisers – situated in their state of the art 106,00 sq. ft Bindery Pindar Graphics is a progressive partner and supplier of multi-channel publishing services that include design, digital photography, page building, content management, e-commerce websites, cartography, mailing and fulfilment. Print capabilities span digital, sheet-fed and web. The business has evolved from being a local printer to one of the most advanced and sophisticated providers of publishing services in the market today.

With QTMS data capture software on their web presses, Pindar were familiar with the quality of the back up and support provided by Prism. “During our search we looked at 6 MIS suppliers and were delighted to discover not only that Prism WIN fulfilled all our MIS requirements, but provided seamless integration with the existing QTMS system.” Anita Bosomworth, Pindar Graphics’ Finance Director continued, “We were able to replace an old MIS, an accounting system, and a number of Access databases with one fully integrated Prism MIS.”

“We adopted an aggressive implementation schedule, starting with Prism WIN’s accounting modules. Prism’s implementation team were able to accommodate the pace of the implementation, and from going live with the financials in December 2002 we were live with the rest of the modules by June 2003.”

Pindar Graphics subsequently added the new iQ data capture modules to all their bindery and folding Equipment, and this year have introduced iQ pallet tracking.
